Meet Avery Bethel, Parklife’s Newest Intern and SMU’s Life After Ball Program
Avery’s Role at Parklife
Avery will primarily focus on client strategy and management during her internship with Parklife. Her role will involve collaborating closely with our team to develop and implement strategic initiatives for our clients.
“I’m very excited to join Parklife and gain hands-on experience in client strategy and management,” Avery said. “This internship is a fantastic opportunity to apply what I’ve learned at SMU in a professional setting and to learn from such a talented team.”
“We’re delighted to welcome Avery to our team,” said Parklife Founder and CEO Brian Castle. “Her dedication, teamwork, and drive are qualities that align perfectly with our values at Parklife. Our partnership with SMU’s Life After Ball program has been immensely rewarding, and Avery is a testament to the caliber of student-athletes involved in this initiative.”
About SMU’s Life After Ball Program
SMU’s Life After Ball (LAB) program is dedicated to assisting student-athletes in their transition from sports to the professional world upon graduation. The program is built on three pillars: Connections, Exposure, and Preparation.
Connections: The LAB network is a robust community of SMU alums and professionals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The program leverages this network through professional networking dinners and mentorship opportunities, helping athletes make meaningful connections.
Exposure: LAB provides athletes with exposure to various industries and job sectors through career interest talks held several times each term. These sessions help athletes discover their interests and understand the skills required for different careers.
Preparation: To ensure athletes are ready for the workforce, LAB offers a comprehensive professional development series covering networking, taxes, resumes, interview preparation, and more. Completing this series equips athletes with essential skills and tools to succeed.
A Mutually Beneficial Partnership
Parklife’s collaboration with SMU’s Life After Ball program began a year ago, and Avery is the second SMU student-athlete to intern with Parklife. This partnership underscores our commitment to fostering emerging talent and providing valuable opportunities for growth.
“Our partnership with SMU’s Life After Ball program is a testament to our dedication to encouraging the next generation of leaders,” Brian emphasized. “We’re proud to support these talented student-athletes as they transition from their sports careers to the professional world.”
The SMU/Parklife internship is a mutually beneficial opportunity for students to learn and grow and for Parklife to benefit from unique insights. Welcome to Parklife, Avery!
