JACKSONVILLE, NC—Campus Safety Products, creators of the patented and award-winning RhinoWare® Lockdown System, today announced a breakthrough partnership to increase the company’s commitment to leadership in school security. The North Carolina-based firm is partnering with Anderson, South Carolina-based TacMed Solutions to provide Active Shooter Response Kits (ARKs) to participating school districts across the country.

More than 311,000 American students have experienced a school shooting in the 23 years since the Columbine High School massacre near Denver, Colorado. For Millennials and Generation Z students, school shootings have become a part of student life. Companies like Campus Safety Products and TacMed are here to make a difference, together.

RhinoWare®, founded in 2014, is the maker of RhinoWare Connect®, a lockdown system that turns virtually any door–classroom, office, or breakroom–into a safe room where students, educators, and other workers can wait safely for law enforcement to mitigate active shooter situations. With the 2022 release of RhinoWare® version 4, featuring RhinoWare Connect®, schools may choose to have law enforcement, first responders and other stakeholders notified as a RhinoWare® unit engages and locks down a room.

The company is now partnering with TacMed, a manufacturer of multiple tactical medical products for both civilian and military use, to provide TacMed’s School Resource Officer Active Shooter Response Kit, designed to provide medical supply resources to school resource officers and others responding to active shooter situations. The ARKs, valued at over $1,000, feature fully customizable casualty throw kits; Tramedic® Tourniquets for smaller limbs; pressure dressings; chest injury treatments; and Ultralight Poleless Litters for a school’s warm zone, casualty collection point, or ambulance collection point.

Every school district that places RhinoWare® products in each of its schools will receive a complimentary ARK for every school.

“TacMed remains steadfast in our commitment to improve survivability during crisis situations,” said TacMed CEO Will Wennberg. “We are proud to partner with RhinoWare® to better equip schools with life-saving products. Our companies are committed to working together to reduce the number of children and adults who are harmed in active shooter situations across America.”

“We’re in agreement with our friends at TacMed that as school security companies, we’re all in this together to save lives,” said Campus Safety Products co-founder and CEO Ed Johnson. “It’s an honor to partner with a great company like TacMed, with their focus on medical innovation in the field of battle or in the warm zones of civilian life. The SRO ARKs will bring even more value and ways to save lives in these tragic situations.”
