Parklife’s Castle Joins UNC Asheville National Alumni Association Board of Directors

It’s important to invest in and support the people and places that shape who we are—and for Parklife Founder Brian Castle, one of those places is UNC Asheville. The Alumni Association Board plays a vital role in connecting past and present UNCA students. In addition to advising university leadership, the board supports student and alumni engagement, philanthropy, and advocacy—serving as a bridge between the alumni community and the university's continued growth. Brian’s appointment comes at a significant moment for the university, as it coincides with the formal installation of Chancellor Kimberly van Noort, Ph.D.

“I’m honored to step into this role at such a meaningful time for UNC Asheville,” said Brian. “Being able to give back—both through mentorship and now through the alumni board—is deeply rewarding.”

Brian’s connection to UNC Asheville goes beyond board service. For the second year in a row, he recently participated in the university’s Alumni Mentoring Program, which pairs current students with alumni based on shared backgrounds, goals, and fields of interest.

Over the course of the program, alums met one-on-one with their student mentees three times, offering education and career planning support. The program also included group sessions where mentors and students came together to discuss networking, job searching, and making the most of post-graduation life. These discussions were led by alumni engagement specialist Klari Farzley and Lauren DeHaan from the Career Center.

“What impresses me most is the intentionality of the program,” Brian said. “The team really takes the time to understand each student’s goals and matches them with mentors who can offer relevant, personal guidance. It’s not just about career advice, it’s about helping students feel confident stepping into their next chapter. It’s guidance in work and in life.”

As Brian joins the Alumni Association Board, he brings a wealth of professional experience and a sincere commitment to student success and alumni connection. At Parklife, we’re proud to see him continue investing in the future of our communities, whether that’s through mentorship, board leadership, or simply showing up for students who remind him of where he started.
